From Humble Beginnings …
Some of our reclaimed lumber comes from beautiful, historical old buildings which have fallen into disrepair and must be taken down. More often than not though, we retrieve our antique timbers and floor joists from modest, working class structures – factories and warehouses – built in the mid 19th century of premium heart pine and doug fir – each with their own unique history.
In the interior and outskirts of Chicago’s once vast manufacturing areas, plants were scattered throughout with recognizable names like True Value Hardware, Brunswick Bowling, and Wrigley Gum. These hard working buildings, well known for the products created within them, can now be remembered for their beautiful reclaimed lumber.
Here are a few examples of hard working structures from which we have recently recovered premium antique lumber. These nondescript buildings with few fancy embellishments were built of the premium quality lumber so plentiful in our country at one time.
